Bruce Harwood is an experienced outback bushman and adventurer. Starting at a young age with a keen eye for photography and landscapes, Bruce started traveling with his family to the remote corners of Western Australia. Now considered well-travelled throughout Australia’s remote regions, Bruce knows all the best places to camp and the most spectacular views along the way. Famous for picking the great campsite or the best sunset, you won’t miss a thing. Along with a great sense of humour and years’ worth of tall tales (some of them waffle!) to keep you entertained around the campfire in the evening.
I have been a friend and business associate of both John Brown [JB], and Bruce Harwood for over 20 years. During that time, I have always found them to be honest and reliable and never offering more than they are able to deliver. I founded WA’s largest 4WD Training company (Eureka 4WD Training) in 1992. Over the 22 years I owned the company I was fortunate enough to have travelled with John and Bruce throughout Western Australia and into some very remote locations. It was a joy. Their companionship was always a pleasure, with fun and laughs along the way.
JB and I go back quite a while these days, sharing an interest in 4wd touring and building 4wdrive vehicles. Over the years we have been on many 4wd adventures including a very memorable trip to The Flinders Ranges and also as team leaders on the 2016 expedition to commemorate 400 years since Dirk Hartog landed on the island that bears his name. JB is a meticulous organizer (some may say anal) making sure the ‘i’s are dotted and ‘t’s crossed, even so he is great company and has a wicked sense of humour.
All the best with EPIC 4WD Tagalong Tours JB. Your considerable outback tagalong travel experience, four-wheel driving knowledge, management and organisational skills will provide a very positive experience for your clients.
Common by Name but not By Nature , I’ve known John [JB], for nearly 20 years in that time I’ve worked with him and have had the pleasure of being away on a “Few Occasions” on 4WD trips with him. All trips are meticulously researched, and recces are done to make sure they run smoothly. He’s genuinely concerned for the well-being of all involved.
Heather & I highly recommend John Brown [JB], as an Off-Road team leader. He lead us on tour up to the Murchison, Steep Point & Dirk Hartog Island . We felt confident & safe due to his planning, attention to detail, experience and leadership. His friendly personal style ensured we had a lot of fun on the tour. We really liked the way he briefed us each day on what was happening & what to expect. And of course, he also likes a good Red Wine, an essential requirement for a tour leader.
I’ve known JB for more than a decade, having done many a 4wd trip with him. He has impressed me with not only his engaging personality, but with his knowledge and competence in all matters 4wdriving, and also as being an experienced and responsible tagalong trip leader.
I have done 4 trips with JB into the wild west, the most recent the expedition to Dirk Hartog Island to mark the 400th anniversary of the Dutch landing. JB is a meticulous planner, and, on the track, he is ever watchful, a necessary skill to ensure things go according to plan, whether its Plan A, B or C – as things change. He has a great technical grasp of 4WD systems having built a number of his own rigs and this proved very handy for us on this last trip. Apart from all this he is a truly lovely fellow and has a keen wit so trips with JB are always a lot of fun. I can’t wait to join up with the Tagalong team to see more of our great WA wild places.
